This salad dressing goes really well with almost any salad, or even simply on chopped lettuce. I got this recipe from my boyfriend’s family, who have been using it for years. It is tangy and super flavourful!

Sumac is a Middle-Eastern spice made from the berries of the sumac plant. It is usually used to introduce some tartness to a dish because it is tangy and lemony. Its deep purple colour makes it a very beautiful addition to many dishes, and makes this vinaigrette a pretty light purple.

Yield: 4 servings | Prep time: 5 minutes
Ingredients
- 2 large cloves of garlic, peeled
- 1/4 medium onion
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons sumac
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: 1 teaspoon dried mint

Instructions
- Combine all of the ingredients in a blender (I use a Magic Bullet). Pulse until fully incorporated.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge until ready to use. If the ingredients separate, whisk or vigorously shake the container to mix them again.
